NATURE reveals the ‘PROFOUND’ WISDOM of GOD!
"He has made the earth by His power; He
has established the world by His wisdom, and stretched out the heaven by His
understanding. When He utters His voice--there is a multitude of waters in the
heavens: He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes
lightnings for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries." (Jer.
51:15-16)
We know that
God created the world and everything in it. It took God only six days to create
everything out of nothing by His spoken world, and we have a record of the
entire creation process in the first pages of the Bible (Genesis chapter 1).
The triune God created the heavens and the earth along with the plants, animals
and man. "For by Him all things were
created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were
created through Him and for Him." (Col. 1:16)
So, God
formed or established the world by His power
and wisdom. "For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and He has set the
world upon them." (1 Sam. 2:8) Jeremiah
chapters 46–51 emphasize that God is both the controller and consummator of
earth’s history. These above verses as well as Jeremiah 10:12–16 reinforce the
truth that God is also the creator
and sustainer of this world.
The acts of
creation demonstrate the omnipotence
of God, and His wisdom in governing
the world points to His omniscience.
The root verb for “established”
affirms the direct causation of God in the creating process of the “world.”
Though the Bible is not a book of science, it is reassuring to see how God’s Word upholds genuine laws of science.
For example, note the explanation of the process of evaporation in Jer. 15:16
where it explains how water arises up in the form of vapor (due to heat), how
God makes lightnings for the rain to fall and blows them to the earth through
the wind that He sends out. "The
wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where
it comes from and where it goes." (John 3:8)
In fact, if
we wish to even briefly try to comprehend the wisdom of God, we do not need to
look anywhere but nature. A simple act of plants sustaining itself through the
process of a complex chemical reaction called photosynthesis has to come from
the infinite wisdom of God. God has caused the flowers to bloom at certain
specific times during the day, which is in itself an amazing phenomenon. The
cause of our universe coming into being, and its continuing to operate as it
does, is a dynamic display of God's wisdom!
In fact, God's
wisdom is displayed in the universe itself, whether in the stars, the moon, the
sun and the solar system or everything that we see around in nature, even the
microscopic creatures present everywhere. Let
us look to the nature around us that reveals the profound wisdom of God!
