Transferring ALL our WORRIES to GOD!
Likewise you younger people, submit
yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be
clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the
humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He
may exalt you in due time, casting all
your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:5-7)
Corrie Ten
Boom has remarked once like this: “Worry
does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength”.
Today’s world can be described with three words: hurry, worry and bury. Worry is like a rocking chair, it
gives us something to do, but it doesn't get us anywhere. Many people these
days seem to have been infected with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) a
condition marked with a perpetual state of worry about most aspects of their
lives.
Our Lord
Jesus Christ has expressly counseled us that we should not worry about what we
will eat, drink, wear or generally about the future, for God, our Heavenly
Father, knows that we need all these things and will take care of us (Matt.
6:25-34, esp. v. 32b). Instead, Jesus invites us to go to Him for rest for our
souls (Matt. 11:28-30). Many years ago, King David has echoed the same thought
as he expressed these words: "Cast
your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the
righteous to be moved." (Psalms 55:22)
Worry is unnecessary; there is no need for us to
bear the burdens when God is willing and able to bear them for us. Worry is futile; it hasn’t solved a problem yet.
Worry is sin. A preacher once said: “Worry
is sin because it denies the wisdom
of God; it says that He doesn’t know what He’s doing. It denies the love of God; it says He does not care. And it denies the power of God; it says
that He isn’t able to deliver me from whatever is causing me to worry.”
In the above
passage, Apostle Peter has suggested that we
should transfer all our worries to God, for
He cares for us as our Heavenly Father. Many times Satan uses
discouragement as an effective tool against us to pull us down to a state of
stress and depression. It is at these times that we should clothe ourselves
with the joy of the Lord, which will be our strength and help us to overcome
all our worries. The way we can transfer all our worries and care upon God is
to go to Him in prayer!
