SEEING God in the MIDST of our TRIALS

June 6 Bible Reading: Job Chapters 40-42

SEEING God in the MIDST of our TRIAL

Then Job answered the Lord and said: "I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You...I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes." (Job 42:1-2, 5-6)

As God Almighty questioned Job within the context of His creation and the wonders of nature that could not be fathomed by a finite human being, Job could truly learn the greatness of God. All his life Job lived as a righteous man and believed in God as well as prayed to God daily. This was based out of a knowledge that he had about God. However, it was in the midst of the storms in his life that Job could actually SEE God…and that was enough for him. All the questions that he had were answered by God through the profound revelation.

When Job saw the greatness of God, he did not have any more words of complaint or self-pity. As Job was brought to his senses by this recounting of God’s unfathomable, inexpressible sovereignty, all Job could do is confess that he had spoken out of turn. When he was questioning the activities of God earlier, he should have been praising. What Job thought he knew about God through prior theological knowledge, he now had come to know by experience of revelation. The answer now was obvious—repentance and full trust in his God (Job 42:1–6).

We need to understand that sometimes the best answers to life’s most baffling and troubling questions lie not in what God says, but in who He is. When we recognize that truth, we will begin to see that God does not just know the answers but, in fact, is the answer. To know Him is to know all one needs to know. We can know God better when we pass through trials and sufferings like Job. We will get more clarity in our life’s vision as God will speak to us in the midst of our trials and sufferings. We can truly see God in the midst of our trials if we look hard for Him and try to listen intently to His still small voice!

But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. (1 Cor 2:9-10)
